Earth Day Award for Surfrider Atlanta
As part of our mission, we aim to inform the public about the state of our oceans and beaches. With the oil spill in the Gulf and the recent lift on the ban on whaling, our oceans seem even more vulnerable than ever. That is why we are so proud of Executive Committee members Pam Longobardi and Charity McConchie for winning the “Most Informative” table at the Georgia Tech Earth Day Event.

Hands Across The Sand / Feb 13
The Atlanta Chapter will be organizing a trip to Florida to help Hands Across The Sand oppose oil drilling that may happen as close as 3 to 10 miles off the Florida coast. This movement will be made up of people from all walks of life and will cross political affiliations. This is not about politics; it is about protecting the Florida shoreline and our way of life. Let us share our knowledge, energies and passion for protecting our waterways and beaches from the devastating effects of oil drilling.
On February 13, 2010 at Noon Central Time, thousands of citizens will convene on the Florida beaches and will draw metaphorical and actual lines in the sand; human lines in the sand against near shore oil drilling in our waters. [Read more...]
